Itinerary Cerro del Tasca Ring
It is a 14-kilometre-long ring-shaped route that has its starting point and arrival near the evocative Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Pietro, located just outside the village of Piancastagnaio. The entire path is surrounded by the unspoiled nature of Mount Amiata. Chestnut trees, silver fir woods and ancient mountain houses are the setting of this high altitude ring-shaped route. The path climbs through thick chestnut woods, spectacular forests and extraordinary ruins of mountain constructions. The hike is also enriched by the original points of interest that you meet along the way, such as the Cerro del Tasca water reservoir located at over 800 meters above sea level, a spring that still serves the inhabitants of Piancastagnaio. The stone entrance is in full harmony with the natural environment, and besides, close to the spring you can enjoy an equipped area, shaded by the branches of centuries-old chestnut trees.
